PROTOTYPE HISTORY:

Once the US Department of Transportation declaring that all national networks (US and Interstate highways) and all other networks within ten miles must allow the operation of 53-foot semitrailers without requiring special permits for length, the industry was quick to adopt the now-ubiquitous 53-foot vans. One of the first 53ft vans was the Wabash Plate Trailer in the late 1990s.
