The AC4400CW is an AC traction variation of its sister locomotive, the C44-9W "Dash 9." Both locomotives share a similar body design, though the AC4400CW features a large box on the rear left of the operator cab, where the inverter banks and traction circuitry can be found. These GE-built locomotives had bolsterless, low-weight HiAd (High Adhesion) trucks that were designed for improved traction, and were also equipped with a split cooling system to lower engine temperature and fuel consumption. The CP AC4400CWs can be found both in Canada and running across the northern US, pulling freight and coal.
