The WalthersProto HO Scale Wabash Streamlined Caboose is based on one of the most distinctive cabooses on the rails. The Wabash RR{s Decatur, Ill. Shops and International Car Co. built 90 of these streamlined cupola steel cabooses between 1945 and 1955. In addition to the Wabash RR, the Ann Arbor RR, Detroit, Toledo & Ironton, and Norfolk & Western Ry. used the caboose on their freight trains for decades with many serving through the 1970s. Walthers is proud to be the first to accurately reproduce this historic waycar in HO Scale plastic. This WalthersProto model features:
- Detailed interior with clear window glazing
- Factory installed separate wire grab irons and handrails, smokejack, roofwalk and other details
- Accurately detailed underbody with separately applied AB brake equipment with separate brake cylinders and rigging
- See-through running boards
- See-through end platforms where applicable
- Etched see through step treads
- Murphy or Diagonal panel roofs based on the prototype
- Rounded- or Square-window end doors, based on the prototype
- As built or modernized smokejack
- Proto MAX(TM) metal knuckle couplers
- Correct swing-motion trucks with 33 scale inch diameter RP-25 metal wheels
- Minimum Radius: 18" (22" recommended)
