PROTOTYPE AND BACKGROUND INFO:
The first railroad cranes relied on locomotives for positioning around the work site. Some big cranes required water tenders to power their steam boilers to operate and rotate the boom. Many of these cranes lasted into the late 1970s and 1980s before being converted to diesel. Some cranes were constructed as diesel towards the end of the steam era. Standard pulling operations for a 200 ton crane required at least 5 idler cars between the locomotive and the crane when in transit from one location to another. The reason was for more braking power as these cranes were often just as heavy, or perhaps heavier, than a single locomotive of the time.

HO LokPilot 5 DCC/MM/SX/M4, 8-pin NEM652
The LokPilot 5 is the most important representative of the LokPilot family and is suitable for almost all questions in locomotives of gauge H0 and 0.
LokPilot 5 decoders are offered with all common interfaces.
MODES:
The LokPilot 5 is a real multi-protocol decoder. He masters the data format DCC as well as Motorola®, Selectrix® and M4. In DCC format, 14 to 128 speed steps are as natural as 2 and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders log on to a suitable digital center fully automatically.
It masters all DCC programming modes and, thanks to RailCom®, the CV values on the main track can be read out with suitable control centers. Auxiliary registers exist for control centers that can only program CVs from 1-255.
Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses enable the activation of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode also makes reprogramming possible with the venerable Control Unit 6021.
The M4 protocol enables automatic registration at mfx®-compatible control centers. All 32 possible function keys are offered here.
The LokPilot 5 decoder recognizes the Marklin® braking distances as well as ZIMO® HLU / ZACK commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or with DC voltage is also possible. It also stops with a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC automatic shuttle train enables automatic commuting between two stations.
The LokPilot 5 decoder can be used on analog DC and AC railways. The decoder switches between the operating modes fully automatically on-the-fly. Usually nothing needs to be set.
FEATURES:
We know that you want your locomotives to be as realistic as possible. Therefore, we packed the LokPilot 5 with function outputs. Depending on the interface version, each LokPilot 5 decoder offers at least 10 amplified function outputs with 250mA output current each. In the versions with PluX22 or 21MTC interface, 4 outputs are added to control servos or logic level outputs. All important lighting functions are available. The brightness of each output can be set separately. The decoder masters the automatic pressing and detaching when uncoupling for ROCO®, Krois® and Telex® couplings.
MOTOR CONTROL:
The engine control of the LokPilot 5 has been fundamentally improved again. A variably adjustable PWM clock frequency from 10kHz to 50kHz ensures super quiet operation, especially with bell-armature motors - the typical hum is a thing of the past. The load control can now be adapted to difficult cases with up to 10 CVs. The unique Autotune function enables the decoder to be automatically calibrated to the motor. With up to 1.5A motor current, the LokPilot 5 decoder provides enough juice even for older motors.
OPERATIONAL SAFETY:
On request, a PowerPack can be connected to the LokPilot 5 to bridge dirty rail sections.
PROTECTION:
Of course, all function outputs and the motor output are protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.

HO 4-8-4 Class FEF-2 - Sound/DC/DCC with Smoke - Union Pacific TTG w/Yellow #829
The Northern type locomotives on the Union Pacific were built by Alco Schenectady Works in 3 classes between August 1937 and December 1944. The first class, designated FEF-1, for Four Eight Four, comprised numbers 800-819. Fitted with 77-inch drivers and a 300-pound boiler pressure, UP was impressed by their performance and took delivery of 15 additional 4-8-4 locomotives in Aug-Oct 1939, numbers 820-834. These locomotives were equipped with 80-inch drivers and larger 14-wheel centipede style tenders with a 23,500 gallon capacity and were class FEF-2. In Dec 1944, 10 additional 4-8-4 locomotives were delivered, these equipped with low-backpressure double stacks, numbered 835-844, and designated FEF-3. All three classes developed 63,800 lbs of tractive effort.
Throughout their service careers multiple modifications were made, including conversion to oil, feedwater heater systems, addition of smoke lifters (designated Wind Wings on UP drawings) and a Mars light, and replacement of stacks from singles to doubles and even triple stacks. UP 844, the final steam locomotive delivered to UP, has been in continuous service on Union Pacific since it was built in 1944; renumbered from UP 844 to UP 8444 between June 1962 and June 1989.

HO VIA HEP2 Coach: VIA Rail - HEP2 Coach Scheme: #4121
VIA Rail HEP2 Coach Scheme (1996 to Present)
Rapido is pleased to announce the Superior Stainless Budd Coaches, as well as VIA Rail HEP1 & HEP2 Coaches, in HO Scale.
All 30 Coaches were delivered to Canadian Pacific in 1954 and 1955 and were initially numbered in the 100-series under Canadian Pacific. All but one of the original coaches were transferred to VIA Rail Canada in 1978 and, save for those damaged in derailments, are all still in use today. They form the backbone of most of VIA Rail Canadas services to this day, found not only on the busy Quebec City-Windsor corridor, but on all other services across the country, including The Canadian, Ocean, Hudson Bay and northern Quebec services.
Beginning in the late 1980s, VIA Rail upgraded its entire ex CPR Budd stainless steel fleet with Head End Power (referred to as HEP), which allowed newer locomotives to be able to heat the trains without the need for aging steam generator cars. These cars are called HEP1 cars and are typically found on long-distance trains today. Many coaches and baggage cars can also be found in intercity service on the Quebec City-Windsor corridor.
Additionally, VIA Rail began purchasing second-hand Budd cars throughout 1990s from Amtrak and other second/third/forth-hand owners to supplement its fleet and allow for expansion. These cars would be completely rebuilt as either first class VIA 1 Cars or Coaches and were called HEP2 cars. These cars contain pass-through MU (multiple unit) cables and are almost exclusively found in intercity service on the Quebec City-Windsor corridor.
Our models are based on the original, steam-heated Canadian Pacific cars. However, we have tooled new HEP2 car sides as well as both HEP1 and HEP2 car ends.
Most of the Budd cars originally purchased by Canadian Pacific, as well as those bought used by VIA Rail, continue to form an integral part of both intercity and long distance services to this day. They will no doubt find a suitable use on your model railroad too.
Each Rapido Superior Stainless Coach includes:

Make Your Decals Settle In Like Paint!
For the most realistic models, decals should look like theyre painted on. Getting professional results is easy with Solvaset. It actually softens the decal film so it snuggles down to the surface and stretches over details, such as rivets, without hiding them. Also eliminates air bubbles, white spots, draping and silvering. Just brush it on and Solvaset does the rest!

Rapido Trains Inc. is proud to announce another essential modern freight car, the Pacific Car & Foundry B-70-69/71/75 class boxcar in HO scale!
As the demand grew in the 70s for larger capacity boxcars, along with the need to replace aging 40ft cars, this series of 50ft double door boxes was produced by PC&F for the Southern Pacific and its subsidiary St. Louis Southwestern (SSW). Constructed between 1972 and 1975, these boxcars are 50ft-7inch in length with a capacity of either 5258 cu ft for standard cars, or 5119 cu ft for those equipped for DF (Damage Free) Loading. All B-70 boxcars feature Hydra-Cushion underframes and were delivered with either Youngstown or Superior doors.
Proving to be a versatile addition to the SP/SSW fleet, these boxcars were later rebuilt for Golden West Service and could be seen carrying goods across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Many can still be seen on the rails today, whether in their original SSW or SP paint, as former Golden West cars stenciled back into SP, or under entirely new ownership.

The 45Ft Trailmobile trailers arrived in Canada in the mid-1970s, almost a full decade before they launched in the US. These venerable trailers also had the option for side doors, for easier access. Spray Can - Base White (100mL)
This product is considered HAZARDOUS. Shipping restrictions may apply. This item may not be shipped by air.
Tamiya TS clear-coat spray is a synthetic lacquer that cures in a short period of time. The spray paint is extremely useful for painting large model surfaces. Tamiya spray paints are not affected by acrylic or enamel paints, therefore, following the painting of the entire assembly, details can be added or highlighted using enamel and/or acrylic paints.
Allow paint to fully cure before using clear coat. This will prevent the clear coat from cracking due to different cure rates from the paint underneath. For best results allow up to one week. Make sure to test clear coating over decals before applying to a finished project. Applying clear coat can harm some decals.
NOTE: TAMIYA TS paint is not designed to be used with clear Polycarbonate/LEXAN R/C body shells. The paint will flake off. For Polycarbonate applications please use Tamiya PS spray paint.

An earlier purchaser of the AC4400CW, the units purchased by Chicago & Northwestern were again dressed in the attractive -Lighting Stripe- paint scheme, but now with the addition of an Operation Lifesaver decoration on the long hood. The AC traction paired well with the long heavy coal trains CNW was pulling out of the Powder River Basin. Many of these units lasted well after the UP acquisition of CNW in their original paint or with minor patching. These early versions rode on the first iteration of the Hi-Adhesion trucks with struts on all four corners of each trucks that were both shorter and inboard of the brake cylinders compared to later variations.

HO GE C36-7 - DC/Silent - Conrail #6635
The Rapido Trains HO Scale C36-7 is based on General Electric's higher-horsepower six-axle Dash-7 offering, with a 16-cylinder 3,600 horsepower or 3,750 hp rating (compared to the C30-7's 3,000 hp.) Built between July 1979 and February 1989, over 599 total units were produced. Of those, 129 were domestic orders for Conrail, Missouri Pacific, Norfolk & Western, and Norfolk Southern. Another 40 were made for Ferrocarril del Pacifico and National de Mexico. Lastly, 422 were made for China with many significant export differences, and the final units produced were 8 for Comilog in Gabon. Despite smaller production numbers, the C36-7 was ordered at key moments that resulted in it representing the evolution of GE s Dash-7 line more than the popular C30-7s. When GE launched "1977 Series Locomotives" (Dash-7s) in, they cataloged a C30-7, C33-7, and C36-7. Railroads immediately ordered C30-7's for booming coal service. The C33-7 was never ordered. The C36-7 was ignored until 1979, when National de Mexico and Ferrocarril del Pacifico placed orders. These export C36-7s for Mexico were essentially identical externally to C30-7s, which were being built by the hundreds at the time. Ferrocarril del Pacifico's units were repainted into striking two-tone blue FNM paint and worked both freight and passenger service. Of the 40 C36-7s built for Mexico, only one is still in service in 2024 - Ferromex 9336. Incredibly, despite being the last operating C36-7 (among few remaining operating C30-7's) 9336 was repainted in Ferromex's classy "Diet Coke" scheme in 2023. The Rapido model features railroad and era-specific details, etched-metal grilles and details, roadname-appropriate lighting packages and Rapido semi-scale knuckle couplers on both ends. The smooth-running drive features a five-pole motor with dual flywheels, backed up with the MoPower capacitor system for uninterrupted operation. This standard DC model is DCC ready with a 21-pin interface for easy conversion. The GE C36-7 is part of the line of Rapido Trains HO Scale locomotives.

Class lights, marker lights, or ditch lights, where applicable

Tangent Scale Models HO Penn Central PC Samuel Rea Shops 4600 Covered Hopper
Product: PC Samuel Rea Shops 4600 Covered Hopper System
Scale: HO Scale 1:87.1
Truck: Tangent 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with rotating Timken bearing caps
Wheels: CNC-Machined 36in Wheels
Penn Central (PC) H51 Delivery Gray 9-1968 is one of those schemes that just defines a car type. The first 261 4600 cars built by PC Sam Rea were H51 class in late 1968. Painted light gray with black bays, the cars feature a small PC logo between the ribs on the right side of the car. Those black bays look sharp and show off the white PC reporting marks on the centersill, a feature carefully duplicated on this model. Check out that Peacock 6500 brake housing and beautiful modern brake wheel. The prototypes truck-mounted brake gear translates to little things on the model like a missing brake cylinder on the B-End. The 4 individual brake cylinders are actually mounted on the truck brake beams, duplicated on our 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks! The bays are equipped with Wine outlet gates with their distinctive gear housing mechanism on the one side. Penn Central lettering is something that we take great pride in here at Tangent. This is industry-leading Tangent artwork and graphics: carefully duplicated based on real photos, not generic diagrams. These Penn Central beauties are ready to operate on your layout.

Introducing the all new N scale Pacific Car & Foundry B-100-40 boxcar from Rapido Trains Inc!

In 1960, the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad merged with the Erie Railroad to form Erie-Lackawanna. The Erie had owned a sizeable number of EMD GP7s, which were all less than 10 years old at the time of the merger and still giving good service. Rather than spend precious money to repaint these units immediately, the EL decided to retain the Erie paint scheme, but omitted the -wings- on the ends of the units and added their own logos. The units continued in this guise until the mid-to-late 1960s when most were repainted in the grey-and-maroon EL scheme.
