Built in the early 1970s, these 50Ft two-bay Airslide hoppers with Barber Roller Bearing trucks featured the GATX -Service Driven- logo. These cars were specially designed with an air-permeable layer inside the bays that could help loosen fine-grained commodities that would often settle en-route, like powdered sugar, thus making unloading easier. General American Transportation Corporation, now known simply as GATX, is a large railcar leasing company, with over 122,000 railcars in the fleet.

This ready-to-run N Scale 50Ft Airslide Covered Hopper from Micro-Trains features an injection-molded styrene body, a die cast underframe, free-rolling engineering plastic trucks with contoured axles and Magne-Matic(R) magnetic knuckle couplers.
